GOING GREY GRACEFULLY in the 21st CENTURY
... and some other ideas and anecdotes, shared for ageing gently, calmly, confidently and beautifully.
The day I decided to stop dyeing my hair, I figured I’d never again experience that little ‘ego boost’ moment again - You know the one? ...
Your lippy’s refreshed, you’ve paid that (always) shocking bill, and then you step out of the hair salon into the sunshine.
Somehow, we’re genetically programmed to toss that head, flick those glossy, freshly-coloured tresses – and we just know we look pretty darned fabulous and youthful, right?
Decision made, I felt more than a little deflated. My Big-Pretender (dyed) brunette locks will grow out, be chopped off – and I will be grey-haired. That will be ... that. I will look SO much older!
But, a little miracle happened.
Not exactly Earth-shattering or life-changing, I know. But, definitely a boost to my confidence, my morale and yes – I admit, my ego.
The more grey-haired I became, the more people commented favourably. On my work trips to other cities and other countries, people (mainly women) would stop me in the street and ask me if this silvery-grey was ‘natural.’ The second question, almost always, is:
“what colour was your hair and how did you go grey without having to wear a bag over your head?”
I’ll tell them (and you) in this blog, in between some funny little stories and some thoughts and finds which have inspired me along the way.
Enjoy!
